Denia, awarded by UNESCO
Denia, the Mediterranean city of The North Costa Blanca, is already part of the select group of creative cities of the UNESCO. On December 11, 2015, the capital of the Marina Alta achieved this long-awaited title in the gastronomy category, for an initial duration of four years, which relaunches its culinary tradition and innovation and puts it on the world map of gastronomic culture. Burgos also received this award, which currently only eight cities in the world have.
Denia's candidacy was not based only on a Mediterranean diet but on other projects such as the recovery of all abandoned agricultural land; the sea and promote those most unknown species and artisanal fishing; and rice and the recovery of those products that are part of the cultural heritage of the Marina Alta.
The restaurateurs and hoteliers of Denia are excited and motivated, since they know that the real work to keep the bar high begins now.
