La Sella, more than an urbanization
At the top of Residencial La Sella the Sakya Foundation, a non-profit organization linked to the Sakya Tradition of Tibetan Buddhism, found the ideal place to build its monastery, which was inaugurated in 2004.
It is one of the largest Buddhist centers in all of Europe and the largest in Spain. Surrounded by nature and with magnificent views of the Mediterranean and Montgó Natural Park, the monastery offers modern and spacious facilities where training, meditations, retreats and events are organized. They also include rooms to accommodate up to 60 people.
Since 2013 it has been directed by Lama Rinchen Gyaltsen, born in 1972 in Uruguay to Spanish parents. In 1980 he emigrated with them to the United States and in 1993 the Buddha's teachings definitively captured his interest. From 2003 to 2012, Lama Rinchen traveled through India, Nepal and Tibet. He resided in several monasteries and received teachings and initiations from great teachers such as S.S. the Dalai Lama.
In 2014, Lama Rinchen founded the Paramita Institute, an online platform that offers the fundamental teachings of Tibetan Sakya Buddhism for free. His deep studies of Buddhism and his great sense of humor make him a great teacher.
Due to Covid19, the facilities are closed now, but many events and teachings are offered online, also live.
