Denia on the way to the “Smart City”

The City Hall of Denia, Alicante is investing in the future and has commissioned the company Aalto Consultores for €18,000 to develop a concept for the “Denia Smart City”. The aim is for Denia to become an innovative, easily accessible and digital city.

Amongst other things, a sensor system that detects free parking spaces, self-regulating traffic lights, a system for detecting water leaks, the use of sewage water for street cleaning, charging stations for electric cars and more are planned.

Denia also wants to position itself as an “intelligent destination” for tourists.

I think a smart city is fantastic however the suburbs get lost and that’s where the voters live. For example la pedrera denia. The road in the village has lots of holes which are very very dangerous for pedestrians. Also there is a lot of gardening which is not being done especially on calle ares and steps it is attracting rats. Calle ares never gets cleaned. I am sorry if this is the wrong place to post this.
